14K Hollow* White Gold St Joseph Medal Oval 23x16mm with high polish plain back and outer front edge along with satin inner finish. This beautiful medal is made in the USA from die struck tooling. All original dies were hand engraved by highly skilled artisans. Joseph was the husband to Mary and foster father to Jesus. In the Roman Catholic and other traditions, Joseph is the patron saint of workers and has several feast days (see Saint Joseph's Day). He was also declared to be the patron saint and protector of the universal Catholic Church (along with Saint Peter) by Pope Pius IX in 1870, and is the patron of several countries and regions. He is a rare example of a saint from the early days of the church whose devotional role has tended to increase in the centuries since the Middle Ages. *A hollow medal differs from a regular medal in that it is constructed of 2 thin outer layers soldered together. This creates a product with a thin hollow center that is lighter in weight than a regular medal while retaining an identical appearance. This reduction in weight creates a product that is about 40% less expensive than a solid medal. Extra care must be taken when doing any engraving on a hollow medal. |
